As previously advised, work on the main site has been suspended following identification of some bonded asbestos during the civil and landscaping work at The Parks, Red Hill.
Best-practice safety procedures remain in place as the wellbeing of residents, workers and the wider community is our priority.
We are still discussing with the ACT Government the extent of the full remediation required on the site.
While we await the outcome of this process, this week we will be commencing some preliminary remediation works to remove areas of top soil across the site.
As a result of this work, you will notice an increase in activity onsite and more vehicle movements to and from the site.
These early works will be carried out by our contractor BMD Urban under the supervision of a specialist hygienist consultant (who is an ACT licensed asbestos assessor).
All procedures will be carried out in strict accordance with required procedures and industry best-practice to ensure any asbestos materials contained in the top soil are properly contained and removed safely. This includes continuing our precautionary air monitoring, utilising dust minimisation measures and the appropriate transport of materials along approved haulage routes.
This preliminary work is expected to take two to three weeks to complete. It is separate to the main body of site remediation work.
We will provide you with an update on the full site remediation plans once these have been finalised.
